Psychological Examination – is an objective means of helping us understand how we can be more effective in the patient’s treatment. Specific problems can be identified; a plan specifically designed for the patient can be determined, and finally we can monitor the effectiveness of our treatment in terms of outcome. This approach provides an opportunity for treatment considerations involving important elements in case management and treatment planning. Three areas are focused upon, namely - behaviors that may serve as potential treatment complications, aspects of the patients clinical picture that may complicate treatment efforts, and furthermore motivation for treatment.
Psychological Examinations answer the following :
- How the person and family are are affected by the psychological problems identified?
- What coping strategies can be employed by the person with psychological stressors?
- Which behavioral problems should be targeted in treatment?
- What treatment modalities should be employed?
- How should efficacy of treatment be measured?
Assessment and Treatment are inseparable. The importance of psychological assessment should not be underestimated. As an objective means of collecting information that can later be utilized to formulate a collaborative treatment plan psychological examinations enable our staff to:
• Identify problems occurring in everyday life
• Establish frequency and severity of these problems
• Plan behavioral rehabilitation in a treat program
• Monitor the effectiveness of treatment programs put into action.
